Sopapilla Cuppies

Sopapilla Cuppies
with Honey Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting

Mexican Food is my FAVORITE!
Maybe that comes from growing up in San Antonio.
There's nothing like a crispy, delicious Sopapilla to top off a yummy mexican dinner.
These are the 2nd cupcakes I've made for
my darling hubby's
Birthday Fiesta.
And they are DE-LISH!
If I do say so, myself.
or
DELICIOSO
(as Shelby says...when she imitates Dora the Explorer) :)
I always top my Sopapillas with honey and
these cuppies are no different.
I topped them with cinnamon sugar...
drizzled them with honey...
and finished with a piece of crispy Sopapilla.

Easy and De-Lish Venison Tacos

Venison Tacos

In honor of my precious hubby's 41st Birthday, we are having a FIESTA!
I have decided to make Venison Tacos.
They're easy, we already have the meat (from his very own deer that he shot this winter),
and the recipe has already been approved by my crew.

Enjoy!

Herb Garden

My Very Own Herb Garden

I have always wanted an herb garden...for as long as I can remember.
I'm really not sure why I haven't planted one before now...but I'm so glad I FINALLY did!

I painted the pots with chalkboard paint.
Some, I just painted the rim, and the others I cut out
a stencil-frame using my Silhouette machine.

We now have FRESH Parsley, Cilantro, Sweet Basil, Chives, Mint, Dill, Lavender, Oregano, Jalapenos, and Banana Peppers.
Rosemary is my favorite so she will be joining her friends as soon as I find her!  :)

And...because we like it SPICY...I planted some peppers, too.  :)

Blessings to you,
Kim

Easter Wreath

Easter Wreath

I love so many things about Spring.
I love the birds singing, trees blossoming, flowers blooming, breezes blowing
while rocking on our front porch.
I especially love Easter.
The resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Easter (for me) is about new beginnings and rebirth--baby birds, baby goats (we had over 50 this year!) and let's not forget baby donkeys!

Here's ours that was just born, yesterday.
These are our two "bookends" as we like to refer to them...with GREAT affection!
Our oldest and youngest
(Sydney 14 and Shelby 20 mos.)

Ok...so back to why I'm really posting...

I made a new Easter Wreath for our front door.  And...it makes me happy!

I hope you like it as much as I do.

Blessings to you,
Kim

Glamping Party

Skylar's 10th Birthday
Glamping Style!

Skylar decided she wanted to have a camping themed party.  Well, Skylar (like her mom) loves all things BLINGy.  So, we decided to Glamp it up!
The party was originally planned to be outdoors in our backyard.  But, of course, it decided to rain.  :)  So...even though we set up a Glamped up tent outside...most of the party took place indoors.  We put a fire pit on our back porch so the girls could at least roast their hot dogs.

This is the main table.
The colors for the party were turquoise, hot pink, and yellow.
We served Hot Dogs on the camping stove placed in the center of the table.
We also had Potato Salad in tin cans wrapped with strips of colored bandanas.
There were Twigs (Pretzel Sticks), Campfire Flames (Cheetos), Chocolate-dipped Marshmallows and Apples on sticks, and a Watermelon Porcupine.

We straightened hangers & doubled over one end.  We wrapped the thicker end with pink zebra duck tape and burned the other end to remove the paint & "sanitize" it.

The Birthday Cake

Candy Bar (River Rocks/Chocolate Rocks, Snakes/Twizzlers, Grizzly Bears/Gummy Bears, Bait/Sour Gummy Worms, Kindling/Twix, Catch of The Day/Swedish Fish)

Snack Sack
The Glampers filled these with candy & Trail Mix to eat while watching a movie.

Party Favors
The Glampers raided the basket before I got a good picture.  I appliqued their initial (using pink or turquoise bandanna) in the corner of a brown fleece blanket.  Tied it with coordinating bandanna strips and attached a tag that said, "It warmed my heart that you joined me at Camp Glam.  Love, Skylar"

The Glampers decorated white pillowcases with fabric paint markers.

"Skylar is 10" bunting over my favorite quilt!

Blinged up branches

Most of the decor was either free or from the dollar store.  I spray painted branches with silver paint, cut apart plastic beaded necklaces and draped them from the branches.

I got the mushrooms from Hobby Lobby (half off).  The wood is from our farm.  I got the moss rocks from Wal-Mart.  The acorns are from our farm...we have Burr Oak trees that drop these big, fabulous acorns!  I dipped them in Mod Podge and then in silver glitter to BLING them up.  :)

Here's a close-up of the glittered acorns.  I also sprinkled stones around that I got from the dollar store.

I got these lanterns from Hobby Lobby (1/2 off)

I put the flowers in tin cans that I spray painted with hot pink & blue metallic paint.

Inside the Camp Glam tent.
We put a zebra rug on the floor, blew up an air mattress and covered it with a hot pink bedspread, and lots of fun pillows.  I had planned to put a cute table, hot pink & black feathered lamp, mirror, and radio next to the bed but since it was raining, we decided to skip the extra details.  The girls spent about 5 minutes in the tent.  :D

It was a very fun party...even though we had to Glamp inside.  :)

Silhouette Projects

Silhouette Projects

#1
Mr. & Mrs.

So, I must have been a really good girl, last year, because Santa brought me a Silhouette Machine.  It is one of my favorite gifts EVER!!  If you don't know what a Silhouette is, check out their website here.   It can cut out so many things...from paper to vinyl to fabric.  Here are just a few of the projects I have made since receiving my new toy!

We have a circle window above our bed (I call it our porthole...we can lay in bed at night and look at the stars...and imagine we're on a cruise ship...yep, I said IMAGINE!!).  So, I have been struggling with what to put above it since it's not your standard window.  I've seen Mr. and Mrs. signs in so many places AND since I now have a Silhouette, I cut the words out of chocolate brown vinyl and adhered them above the window.  I found this lovely little gold & sign at Hobby Lobby and think it adds just the right amount of BLING!

Here's another pic of our window...

And another...

I'm loving our cozy little nest!

#2
Menu Board

My sweet hubby and I have 7 children (combined).  Needless to say, I get a bit tired of being asked "What's for breakfast?" or "What's for dinner?" over and over again.
That's why I saw a need for a Menu Board.  :)
I dry-brushed the frame a turquoise color (my fav), made some burlap & lace flowers, BLINGed them up, and hot-glued them to my board.
Then, I cut the words, MENU, BREAKFAST, LUNCH, and DINNER out of vinyl using my Silhouette machine and attached them.

I love the way it turned out...not only visually, but for my SANITY, as well!  :)

#3
The Queen's Throne

I absolutely LOVE front porches.  We happen to have been blessed with one of the best I have ever seen (my humble opinion).  The only way this porch would be better is if it were overlooking the land on our farm (we're living in town, right now).
I cut out the letter "H" (on my Silhouette, of course) and stenciled a monogram on some burlap pillows and put them on the rocking chairs.

And, because I feel like a Southern Queen when I'm rocking on my front porch, I cut out a crown using vinyl and adhered it to a flower pot that I painted the same color as my monograms.

Here is my favorite spot to sit and sip Peach Tea (or something a little stronger, on occasion) :)

#4
Sweet Tea Jar

I was shopping at an antique store with one of my dear friends and she picked up a glass jar that had "Sweet Tea" written on it with vinyl.  I insisted that she put it back so I could make one for her...I love all things Southern and what is more Southern than Sweet Tea??
This is what I came up with.

I purchased the jar at Wal-Mart for around $4.00.
I cut out a stencil using vinyl, adhered it to the jar, and etched it using etching cream (I apologize that you can't see the etching very well in this picture).
I also added a bow using 3 different ribbons and accented it with a "mother of pearl" button.
I wanted her to be able to remove the ribbon for washing so...I kept the bow tied around the neck of the jar and then cut it in half at the back...like this...

Then I folded the ends over and secured them with hot glue.  I added velcro dots to each end so the bow will be easy to attach and remove.

This is the front of the bow.

I think I'm going to have to make one for myself!  :)
#5
The Great I Am Subway Art

Last but definitely NOT least is the subway art that I created with the names of our Great Savior Jesus Christ.

I have seen similar pieces on Pinterest and decided I HAD TO make my own.  I cut out some of His names using various fonts that I like.  I used chocolate brown and light blue vinyl.
I also cut out stencils for a cross and crown and painted them onto the canvas using gold acrylic paint.
Before I adhered the names, I painted the canvas using a beige paint.  I positioned and adhered the names and then dry-brushed the canvas with gold acrylic paint.

I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out.  It is hanging in our front entryway so that it is the first and last thing that our visitors see.  :)

Blessings to you,
Kim
